What will they tell the kids...(Spoilers obviously)

Bah. No offense, but Tsukihime doesn't look too interesting (maybe the anime just put me off too much) and I was bored to death watching the KnK movies. I literally could barely keep myself awake between action sequences.

Judging Tsukihime based on the anime is like judging... uh...Watashimo wrote:Bah. No offense, but Tsukihime doesn't look too interesting (maybe the anime just put me off too much) and I was bored to death watching the KnK movies. I literally could barely keep myself awake between action sequences.
...fuck. I was trying to think of a good analogy, but the only thing bad enough that came to mind was the Tsukihime anime
I'm in the group that thinks Tsukihime was/is/and always will be around 5-10 times better than FSN. I'm not rabid about it, but it is my opinion
The KnK movies are more for diehard fans. They follow the novels pretty closely if I remember right, and the novel was written in a really confusing manner. It doesn't really get AWESOMENESS til like fifth chapter.

heed xthr. he does not SPEAK the truth, he IS the truth. (using he/she would've been awkward, so i stuck with using "he".)
if we used the carny chimp on unicycle that beat shinji in GARness in a comparison, it would be that same chimp (the anime) facing off in GARness against gil (the vn), or maybe ilya (the anime) competing in the breast size rule against rider (the vn).
EDIT: wait, nevermind, if we used the chimp, the chimp would symbolize the manga, shinji would symbolize the anime, and gil would be the vn.

Whenever I go on, everyone leaves the Tsukihime forums. 'Cause I just fail like that.
I'm not trying to judge it by the anime. Its just that its really hard to bring myself to go get the VN after seeing it. Its a mental thing. Its like tasting a bad plate of food due to failed cooking and not wanting to try it even when its cooked proper. Everyone says that the properly cooked food is good, but you can't help but doubt it after the bad experience.
As for KnK. Even though it was boring I still plan to watch the rest of it. Its a love/hate thing.

I sugest that you check the manga. If you aren't into reading text after text afer text and so on, check out the first volume of the manga. If it doesn't suit you, you leave it; if you are interested, check the VN next. It's probably better than checking the VN first hand, your moneyz are safer that way.Watashimo wrote:I'm not trying to judge it by the anime. Have you heard about the saying that goes something like "drunk people and kids tell no lies"? Well, that's just a fallacy.

i concur.
but it's really strange. when i watched the anime, my first reaction was "oh my god, that was HORRIBLE! whoever wrote that deserved to die!" not to mention that a crapload of stuff was inconclusive for me, and that's what actually drove me to read the vn. just goes to show that everyone's different.

I think I'll look into Tsukihime. Looking at FSN, it will most likely be good and if nothing else it'll be a good use of freetime.
I think I like KnK because the animation is just so damn good, its eye-candy. Not to mention Shiki's eyes are beautiful. Despite the fact that any amusement is few and far between, the action sequences are really nice. I usually require some comedy, action, or romance to keep me in an anime during its "slow" times, I guess for KnK its the animation.

It'll get a lot better in chapter 5, when you see Kotomine-clone and GARyogi Shiki.
I like KnK b/c it's pretty disturbing in a very weird way. I like disturbing stories, but I can't stand things like higurashi or school days, because I just end up finding the whole thing completely ridiculous >_>. Things like Mononoke or Blood+ are nice, but still feel like they lack a certain something. KnK reminds me of Ghost in the Shell (not as awesome, but similar in a way), and fills me interests nicely. I agree it's not something the majority of people can enjoy.

KnK is one of the best animes in years, it's a faithful adaption of the novels and to me, not only is it really interesting to watch Tsukihime arch-types, but also the action sequences are really hard to top. I mean, the first episodes alone music score / fight scene on the roof, is in the top anime fight scenes in anything really. I had to watch that like 15 times, it was just plainly to epic. I've watched like 200+ animes too, and I really think KnK is superb quality. It has a freaky atmosphere and is believable in the world presented. I'm also a Tsukihime fan though, so that's probably another reason I love.
I totally feel ya man. The thing is, KnK is pretty hard to accept by casual movie goers. I mean, there are plenty of beautiful movies, but without SOME kind of prior knowledge, most of the viewers will be there sitting and going "wuh jus happened?"Mkilbride wrote:KnK is one of the best animes in years, it's a faithful adaption of the novels and to me, not only is it really interesting to watch Tsukihime arch-types, but also the action sequences are really hard to top. So does this mean the chimp is UBW capable because I thought the manga was pretty good. It had action sequences that could not be done like fsn because of the lack of funds.NonExistence wrote:heed xthr. he does not SPEAK the truth, he IS the truth. Guys either stay on topic here or start a new topic about this. Although it sounds more like most of this should of been in one of those Shinji threads. Besides we don't want to have the All Mighty Message closing a potentially good thread like this.
And with that I got another one Karen and Shoru.
Child: Mom can you tell me how you met dad for the first time?
Karen: Alright I guess I can tell you how I met that stray dog of a father of yours.
Child: ...
Shioru: Why are you calling me a dog? I thought Lancer was the dog and I being the premature ejaculator.
Karen: Wow I can't belive you've admited that right in fron of your own child like that.
Shirou: ...
Lancer: She's got you there kiddo.
Child: Mom what's a premature ejactualtor anyways?
Karen: I'll tell you lwhen you're father is gone for a while.
