Last Arcs in Melty Blood ReAct (final tuned)

Unread postby Sephpanda » June 18th, 2009, 4:36 pm

I've gotten them to work precisely once.

I know I have to be in blood heat, and I need to tap the shield counter button so as to negate the opponent's attack.... and.... what else?

There have been plenty of times when I simply ended up negating the enemy attack and nothing happened, even though I was still in BH.

(And yes, I've read that some characters have to be on the ground, and others need you to be in the air in order for this to work.)

It has to be something called an ex-shield. Its shielding that you put on exactly as the opponent attacks, not before.

So its an issue of timing then? I can nullify their attack but still not trigger the Last Arc if I'm a tad too slow? Because thats what appears to be happening.

Also;

1: Has anyone gotten a PS3 controller's DPAD to work with this game? I can only use the joysticks, and they have a tendancy to "snap" back to neutral, causing me to jump after... just about any movement :P.

2: Whenever I re-name a replay file, it becomes invisible in the ingame replay menu... obvious solution, plz.

1. Yes, you have to time it right to get the Last Arc to work. try it in practice mode to try it out

2. I don't have one so I dont know.

3. Dont rename them, as the game looks for their name like 000 or 001, not anything else.

D'oh. I did. I guess i'll just have to get the timing down.

Argh. Its gonna be a pain to organize my replays, then...

Also, what EXACTLY does the framerate tweak do? Does it make it harder to execute moves (it feels that way to my buddy)? Does it have any effect on the game occasionally pausing for a second or two (I think it does)?

hmmm...I've never seen that framerate tweak thing, so I don't know what you mean.

The framerate is the rate of frames per second. By default (if you machine is able) is 60; if you change it to, say, 50, the game would be a tad slower, and moves could indeed be harder to pull, though to me at 50 they're a little easier.

You must remember that some characters must use EX-shield in the air, to active the Last Arc.

EDIT: Gah! I didn't read your post properly.

Does Act Cadenza (or rather, the little program that lets you play online) have better netcode or is it pretty much the same?

The game itself can't play online, but I think there is a thing from meltybread that allows you to play online. It's kind of line an online patch for the game I guess. Other then that I haven't played the online version at all yet.

It's not a patch, it's a standalone program called mbcaster. The game itself still can't play online, but caster'll be the closest thing you have to it.

Yeah but doesn't that kind of makes the game have something close to online play though? I mean I've heard of it, but I've never used it before so I don't know how the program works anyways. Although I know about it, but that's just about it.

Bleh. I'm just trying to play with a friend- it worked fine for the first day, then after that we started getting pauses every few seconds... messing with framerate resulted in a pause free game in which we can't do any special moves.

-_-;.

Its kind of maddening since we don't live THAT far away (maybe an hour or two).
