Try putting the dll in the same folder as the game, check if that works.

"Application could not start. Thunk32.dll is corrupt or missing." is the error message that shows.
I tried running the same copy on other systems. It works fine - both on windows and even (GASP!) WINE, so the game's fine.
He tried downloading the DLL and putting it in the system32 folder, but it had no effect.
I thought, maybe the DLL is supposed to be somewhere else? So I searched several computers with WinXP for the DLL on which my copy was tested, and came up with nothing.
Any ideas?

...Drat. I forgot to check his specs before posting this. Well, his OS is WinXP.
If no one has any ideas, I'll update with all specs later.

Putting it in the same folder as the game did NOT work. The file is being redownloaded from a different source to ensure validity.

Here are the comp specs, just in case:
2GZ CPU
1GB RAM
DirectX9c
Radeon x 1650 (512mb)

Not really a bug... um... I started playing MB (first one) story, and after I won the first fight, I see a scene which is partly English and partly Japanese...
As opposed to the English text, when the Japanese text appears, it fades in time (meaning, clicking the action button won't forward it...)
Here's an example:

Image

There's more than one or two Japanese texts. The English text appear at the lower rectangle, while the Japanese at the top and middle ones.
Is the game not fully translated or am I missing something?

The difference in ways the text appears is engine-related, that's nothing to worry about. The text should be in English, however. Try reinstalling your game.

Melty Blood ReACT Final Tuned with v2.0 English patch

I'm having a problem with the game's story mode. I'm trying to go the A-B-D-G-K (all upward) route, but G is always sending me to L whether I win or lose the fight. Also, the dialogue that plays right after the fight in G is the same no matter what the outcome is.

Never mind, I just read the walkthrough. Just wish it was a little more obvious. -_-

It doesn't solve it... I install the game with your patch, is there any difference if I patch after installing the Japanese version?

There shouldn't be any difference at all. I'll checklist this issue for when ArchDemon comes online again (might take some time). In the meantime, could you do the following for me?

Click start, then run.
Enter: cmd (Enter meaning type it, then press enter)
Assuming you installed MB on your C: drive, enter: c:
Assuming that's where you installed it, enter: cd "program files\Watanabe Productions\Melty Blood English"
Enter: dir /s > dir.txt
Enter: exit
Open your windows explorer and browse to the dir where you installed MB. Open the dir.txt file and paste the contents here. I suggest spoil-tagging it, so it doesn't use so much screen space.

Thanks in advance.

Re: About Melty Blood English Patch for Story Mode

Unread postby Timekiller » May 22nd, 2009, 8:36 am

Umm... I have a question about the translation of "story mode" of the original MB.
Route part "B", the beginning. Sion seems to be "haxxing the people's minds", but everything, except her own words, is written in Japanese. Is it supposed to be so, or that's the result of installation process went horribly wrong?..

I'll have ArchDemon look into this. It looks like something's wrong with the release. Note to self: Investigate executable filename influence.

Weird, I used the old version of the patch and it works just fine, even after several uninstalling and reinstalling. Maybe something's wrong in the implementation of the new patch Message?
When will I get my 1337th post?

Yeah, something must be broken somewhere. I'm sure it'll be easily fixed, assuming Arch drops by sometime soon. Thanks for the reports, people.

Yes, that is the exact same problem I have. Looking forward to the solution :)

Sorry to add this, but I have experienced the same problem too.

And I had problems with replays in Melty Blood ReACT.
See here for details.

Oh, and I'm sorry if I should've posted that topic here.
Life is but a River.
A continuous flow, relentless till it reaches its destination.
Rocks, rapids, falls hinder not the flow of the strong.
It has its ups,and its downs.
And in the end,peacefully.......
It dissipates into to vast Ocean.

Hi, sorry for taking so long to respond as things have been a little hectic lately (finals at uni/moving house/etc). Looks like I goofed when repacking the data04.p file as I forgot to add the translated background images to the patch. This only affects the original Melty Blood and not Melty Blood ReACT. I've already fixed the problem and we'll put out a new patch as possible.

As for the replay problem with MBR, I've heard about similar stuff happening to the Japanese version too, so I'm not sure what to make of it.

For the post about the Thunk32.dll file, it sounds like s/he needs to reinstall his OS. If s/he doesn't want to do that then I guess you could try downloading the dll from one of those dll download sites, but don't blame me if anything bad happens to the OS. :P

I'm getting the same replay problem in MBAC. However, for me the replay is not only incorrect, its totally different. At some point in the replay, my character stops moving completely, and the computer just beats me with time outs, which I know did not happen. Not only that, but I CAN CONTROL MY CHARACTER WHILE IN REPLAY MODE!

Does this happen every time you run the game and select the replay? If it does, does it do the same thing using the same replay file in the Japanese version (v1.03A)?

Yes it does happen to that very same replay file, and to any other replay file I have.

I haven't tried the Japanese version though.

Could you make a backup of your replays, uninstall MBAC, install MBAC Jap, then restore your replays and see if they have the same problem in the Japanese version?
