Found this old thread when I Googled for a "Trojan" a-squared found in my Re-act:

Code: Select all

a-squared Free - Version 3.1
Last update: 2008-03-30 01:15:20
D:\Spel\Type-Moon\MeltyBlood ReACT\mbr-english.exe detected: Trojan-Dropper.Win32.Agent.czj
D:\Spel\Type-Moon\MeltyBlood ReACT\mbr-english.exe.orig detected: Trojan-Dropper.Win32.Agent.czj
D:\Spel\Type-Moon\MeltyBlood ReACT\mbr.exe detected: Trojan-Dropper.Win32.Agent.czj

Re-installing doesn't help so I'd guess it's a-squared finding the same thing AVG used to find...

Oh, and I hope the ops doesn't kill me for resurrecting an old thread.. *hides*

What is there to do to let the Avast! guys about this problem? This problem is taking it's time to be fixed.... I'm even thinking on going back to AVG if it's not going to have that problem and let me scan completely my pc.

I sent it in to Avast, and they'll correct it in the next Update. You can however set exceptions by Left Clicking on the Rotating A , hitting Details, Selecting Standard Shield , Hitting Customize , going to the Advanced Tab , and adding the mbr-english.ext to the list of excluded items (you need to put in the pathname, however you can use * to make things a bit easier (eg C:\*\Melty Blood ReAct\mbr-english.ext ).

It works now without any problem! Thanks!

Prevention is actually the best method. Many trojans and viruses usually do enough shenanigans such that antivirus can't really remove it, and you'd be better off doing a clean install than to try to remove it.

I suggest you use NOD32 anti virus. it is much more convenient.

anyone mind explaining whats going on with the final tuned patch? i use webroot spy sweeper with antivirus and it seems to be picking up a Mal/Generic-A on the patch. Installing react with the patch leads to mbr.exe and some other execute file having the same thing. So jsut one question: is this a false alarm?

If the file is unmodified it should be a false alarm, yes. I suggest you mail the company that made your virusscanner so they can investigate the file(s) for false positives. The English mbr.exe has been recognized as a trojan in other scanners as well, so that most likely is a false positive, at least.
