Can't find MSVCR71.dll

Unread post by Killingspree » April 1st, 2008, 7:37 pm

Hey everyone. I'm New here. I've just downloaded the English version of WindomXP, but it doesn't work. When I try to run it, I get this error message:

Image

I have:

- DirectX 9.0c

- Set WindomXp in Windows 2000 Compatible mode

- Downloaded MSVCR71.dll (from http://www.dll-download.net) and placed it in my C:\Windows\System32\, but it doesn't work. I get a "bad image" error message.

What should I do?

I've installed the 2008 version, nope. Still doesn't work :(

NOTE: I have the European version. Should I switch to the US version?

download MSVCP71.dll and put it into win32, most likely, after you added the MSVCR71.dll you overlooked the fact that the filename changed on the error message.

isnt the .NET framework enough? because if it isnt then this should be a requirement or something.
then again, its not like as if i had to copypaste dlls just to play the game (yep, things worked well rightaway for my case)
idontknoW has left this forum, that is all.

I just re-innstalled it, and it's working! And the best of all, I didn't do anything! (haven't got time to make WindomXP work). Thanks for the help, guys :D

I have the exact same problem except:
Alucard wrote:Install the Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime
Downloaded both 2005 and 2008 version, did not solve the problem.

Nope after I installed the DLL from the site, the error I'm getting is that the DLL file is not a legit Windows copy.

Nope, installed .NET framework 3.0 and its still not working.

Am I missing something obvious here? :p

Tried that, and I had the exact same error telling me that the DLL file is not a legit Windows-copy.

I had to ask a friend of mine for 2 files: MSVCR71.dll and MSVCP71.dll

Put them in system32 and all green. Fortunatly, this solved my problem with IDE Eclipse. :D
