Translation of- Kara no Kyoukai

Unread postby ggyytthh » July 10th, 2011, 7:47 am

Hi, :D
Ever since the announcement of Del Rey translating Kara no Kyoukai in 2009, many translators- if not all, have dropped their translations including mirror moon. As of 2011, Del Rey has not translated any more than the first chapter preview in Faust. It would appear that Del Rey have canceled their license according to an email I sent to them:

Good Morning, xxxxxx,

Thank you for contacting Random House, we appreciate your feedback and continued interest in our publications.

We do not currently have this title in our database. It is possible that due to a rights conflict we were unable to prepare the title for publication.

Thank you,

Question/Comment: In the year 2009, the company Del Rey was to release the light novel series: Kara no Kyoukai. As of 2011, there has still been no word on the release of the books. I would like to know if they are still translating the books or have dropped the project. Thank-you in advance

As it would appear that they have dropped their translations, I would like to request for the translations to be put back up on the site and if the previous translations were not completed, to be translated fully. :D Alot of fans would appreciate the english translations to be put back up and I hope that they will be!

ps: Please do correct me if I am wrong in saying that Del Rey are no longer translating Kara no Kyoukai and if another company has licensed it after Del Rey quit translating the novels.

thanks =D

You'd probably do good to ask again using a different name: Garden of Sinners, or Kara no Kyokai. If they say it's not in the database, that probably means they have it stored under a different name. Note that if some person of techsupport isn't capable of giving us the info we need, we can't say for sure that their license was cancelled. More info would be helpful.

(Also: It's mirror moon, not Mirror Moon.)

I will send them another email to confirm if they are no longer translating Kara no kyoukai. Then repost to tell you if they are. But is there anyway of checking if KnK is still licensed?

(Thanks for correcting me on the "mirror moon")

Hello again,
I have contacted Random House again and it would appear that the ecustomerservice is unable to check clearly if it is still or has been licensed. Here is the email:

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Good Afternoon, xxxxxxxxx,

We do not have either series listed below in the active or backlist database. The Consumer Services Department does not have access to historic rights information and cannot confirm if rights were previously contracted for the titles requested. For more information, please write to the Del Rey editorial team at this address:

Rights inquiries are not accepted by email.

Thank you,

As I do not live in New York, could someone who is able to, please write to Del Rey to confirm their license?

Thankyou to whoever does that for me. It will be greatly appreciated.

I've mentioned this a number of times, but here it is again:

http://www.baka-tsuki.org/project/index ... no_Kyoukai

You're probably better off asking whoever is in-charge of the project there.
They use the same translations that we have too.

Hello,

Although I could ask there, I am looking for a person to write to Del Rey to confirm their cancellation of license. Thanks for posting though.
If there is anyone who lives in NY, please help me write to Del Rey to see if their license of Kara no Kyoukai is still active.

I'd just like to point out that all 8 novels of Kara no Kyoukai have been translated perfectly, and is up for download if you know where to look.

The translated novel's title is "Empty Boundaries".

Google that title, and it'll show up in the 4th link.

Tired of licensing bullshit? Well, now you can read it without the hassle.

Enjoy.

Thank you Arkane , for the link. I have now downloaded it and the translations do seem to be quite good (although not as good as mirror moon ones)

It would be nice if someone could finish off the remaining chapters of Kara no Kyoukai from mirror moon during their 'spare time'!

Thanks once again for the download =D
