I'd like to know, too. How do you use this darn feature? Why does it show me the save files screen, with nothing clickable? Do I only get "the option to save your battle data" after I beat the game?

Ryuusoul wrote:You don't get the option to save your battle data in normal mode.

As for the titles, below is a list with the title, the hint, and the scoring criteria.

The One Who Leads

Given to those who slug it out and fight to the end.
Game cleared. (500 points)

The One Who Unleashes
Given to those who lead the world to peace without pausing or using divine power.
Game cleared without retrying battles or using P/ECE. (1500 points)

Utawarerumono
Given to those recognized by the Great God Witsarnemitea.
unit(s) over level 51. (500 points per unit)

The One Who Rages
Given to those who excel, maximizing their strength without using divine power.
unit(s) with 99 Attack without using P/ECE. (50 points per unit)

Guardian
Given to those who excel, maximizing their bodies without using divine power.
unit(s) with 99 Defense without using P/ECE. (50 points per unit)

The One Under Divine Contract
Given to those who excel, maximizing their minds without using divine power.
unit(s) with 99 Magic Defense without using P/ECE. (50 points per unit)

Kunneyetai, The Faithful

Given to those who lead the world to peace by using their own strength, not their divine power within.
unit(s) clearing the game without using any bonus points. (200 points per unit)

Protector
Given to those who do not pause or use divine power and defeat 20 enemy units.
unit(s) defeated 20 enemy units without retrying battles or using P/ECE. (20 points per unit)

Infantry Commander
Given to those who do not pause or use divine power and defeat 50 enemy units.
unit(s) defeated 50 enemy units without retrying battles or using P/ECE. (50 points per unit)

Samurai General
Given to those who do not pause or use divine power and defeat 100 enemy units.
unit(s) defeated 100 enemy units without retrying battles or using P/ECE. (200 points per unit)

High Priest
Given to those who do not pause or use divine power and magically defeat 20 enemy units.
unit(s) magically defeated 20 enemy units without retrying battles or using P/ECE. (100 points per unit)

Warrior
Given to the victorious who freely use their techniques in perfect succession.
unit(s) with a 100% success rate on combos. (100 points per unit)

The Insignificant One
Given to the despicable who come to battle often and suffer.
unit(s) who have retreated over 50 times. (-50 points per unit)

The One Who Loiters
Given to those who are hooked on a dream and loiter on the same battlefield.
Battle retries are over 100. (-200 points)

The Supreme One
Given if everyone does not pause or use divine power and unlocks their own ultimate techniques.
Every unit maxed their techniques without retrying battles or using P/ECE. (500 points)

"Without pause" seems to be referring to retrying battles and "divine power" seems to be referring to using P/ECE (a handheld thing that lets you play a minigame to up your characters' levels).

I think it's only for hard mode saves.

Only for hard mode. Option to save battle data only appears after you beat the game and watched the epilogue. Battle data will take up one save slot.

So, titles don't accumulate over multiple playthroughs, and battle data doesn't affect anything else?

For Titles such as Protector Infantry Commander, Samurai General and High Priest do all the requirements need to be fulfilled by only a single character or does it count all the kills together?

its for a single character not all kills, also if you have 100+ kills on one char for samurai general, that character does not qualify for infantry commander.

Gah. Beat the game on Hard 2, but somehow did not manage to get The One Who Unleashes (No retries). Why. T_T I straight quit whenever I lost... Did I forget about a retry early on? Guh. It says two retries. Yeah, that's probably it. First mission, IIRC... orz

What happens when you beat the game on hard a second time? Do you save over the first battle data slot, or do you pick a different one?

I'm not sure how high you can get normally; but if you die you can retry battles and it should keep the experience. Just don't retry it 50 times lol

i thought only bp would be carried over from the last try. so the trick is, you just have to fight the last battle several times until a character becomes lvl 51.

Finished Hard 1 without retries; but why I didn't got The One Who Leads and The One Who Rages (Hakuoro had 99 attack)?
Also, about retreats, does retreats from battles you retry count for the title?

EDIT: Duh, they HAVE to count, otherwise you don't have enough battles to get all the retreats...

Well, finished Hard 5 and got The One Who Leads and The One Who Rages (among others), but now I didn't get Kunneyetai, although I didn't use any BP for Derihourai nor Genkimaru; is this some kind of fluke and I have to finish another game, do I have to do this without retries, do I have to not use any BP for ANY character, or do I have to do something completly different?

Answers: It seems neither Derihourai nor Genjimaru count for Kunneyetai, and Hakuoro doesn't count for The One Who Rages nor The One Under Divine Contract, and I would guess neither for Guardian (I'm still baffled on why I didn't got The One Who Leads the first time)

Another strange thing: after finishing Hard 5 I unlocked the penultimate CG (didn't unlock it with Hard 1), but was missing one title; finished Hard 1 and got the last title and unlocked the last CG, but I lost the penultimate; I had to load the last battle from Hard 5 and beat it again to re-unlock it

Sorry for the stupid noob question, but I still can't seem to figure out how/when to save battle data. Should I take the above to mean that battle data saving only occurs once, at the end of the (hard mode) game, and that it's not something you need to do between battles?

Indeed, once you finish the game, it pops up the option to save battle data
