You sir WIN. You either put a lot of effort in, or are just talented. Either way I wouldn't mind seeing more of your work. Do you take requests?

Give suggestions and I might do them. Eventually

Do Kotomine! Do Kotomine! He's damn GAR in HF!
"I settled for that shriek. Those dull vacant eyes... oiled cabbage stench of her...! [...] You know what? I'm sorry if I'm not gonna do this the way you want me to or the way you might. But I will not make an angel out of someone who wasn't an angel...!" -Chief Tyrol, on his beloved wife.
Have you heard about the saying that goes something like "drunk people and kids tell no lies"? Well, that's just a fallacy.

You should write tutorials. I would love to know how you did the shading.

Well, even though some of your methods were simple - it's the simplest parts that are the most powerful in art =)

Oh please say you will, I mean it looks that good enough to be finished. Even with it being this far done it looks good. I mean it combines the fact of she's colored in, but the rest of her is sketchy since it's a not finshed art piece that can say it's done. So keep it up it looks good so far.

Uhm, I'm not really sure how to write tutorials. If you guys draw something, I can critique it and offer help if you want?

I'm a hobby artist, drawing to amuse myself (I'm actually a freshman computer science major in college). If you really want to learn how to do digital art and stuff, I suggest first learning to paint and draw with traditional media. A LOT of that stuff definitely carries over.

In fact, I think learning to draw in the first place is the very very best thing you can do to help yourself get better at drawing stuff like fan art and stuff. While anime IS kind of different from a normal person, you can get a lot better by doing a few drawings of a normal face. Even just tracing a lot of magazines will make you better if you can do it on a regular basis.

As for resources that can/will help you, conceptart.org is definitely the place to be. You can get a lot of help there if you ask, and they have great tutorials (altho the sheer professionalism and number of crazy artists will make you feel like crap =_=).

Also, for learning how to draw people, download Andrew Loomis' books on drawing figure. They are crazy good, and basically what I've used a lot. I think direct linking should be fine because they are provided free legally now:

http://www.artcone.com/forum/andrew_loo ... t1772.html
It's definitely in an old style, but it really helps. Might not be as visually appealing to people who are used to anime, but they work like a charm.

I think the point I'm trying to make is that drawing these kinds of things come pretty natural after you learn how to draw normal things. Photoshop brushes and "techniques" only matters so much lol. The best advice I can give is just to draw regularly and get people to comment/critique it. They may be harsh, and you may feel like sh!t (this is me speaking from experience... lol >_>) but it'll be worth it if you want to draw well.

And if you want to see of the other crap I did, I uploaded some of it to imageshack:
