Kara no Kyokai movie

That's what Tsukihime was based off right? The designs are obviously TYPE-MOON.

Yeah, it's often called Tsukihime's prototype.

I ripped the preview from stream, but it's encoded on WMV9 format. Anyone can help me convert it? @_@ I tried a lot of things but it seems no matter what I use the header for the video is corrupt.

Although I was able to watch it in WMP... ._."

You can download the trailer here: http://stage6.divx.com/Anime-PV/video/1 ... oukai---PV

It's in Divx format.

Ugh, I wish Kyoto Animation would put on hold Key's games for a while and do some remakes for Type Moon. ufotable doesn't seem to have an uber track record either.

Looks good. I'll def watch it when it goes out. Hope they get a decent composer for that too as in some cases the OST makes up for the shortcomings.

is there already something known about which part of the story they're gonna show? I doubt the movie has enough time for all stories, unless they;re gonna rush it. I also wonder about the chronology of the movie, again I doubt they're gonna follow the same one as the novel, at least not in that detail. Also, I wonder if the stories will be tuned down a little bit :] (I seem to wonder and doubt alot -_-;;)

Might give a whole new look on the story, or it might retell the story. Atmosphere would probably be the thing that should set it apart from the novel. although I'd much rather finish reading the novel then watching the move, it could be something to look forward to ^^.

Actually it's going to be 7 movies I believe. Not just one. So it will cover the whole book.

7 movies? that would be nice, possibly a movie for each chapter? Is that confirmed btw?

Wiki says;
The series is also slated to be adapted into an upcoming anime movie divided into 7 chapters, set to be animated by ufotable. The first chapter will be released in early winter 2007 at the cinema Theatres Shinjuku.

Must be something like 20 minute chapters then. Seems like something they could use to milk a profit.

I really doubt it will be a set of 20 minute chapters. That would be a supreme waste of money to bother with a theatre release per chapter when theyre not even a half hour long.

I'd expect each chapter to be at LEAST 45 minutes long if not more.

They can't possibly be 20 minutes each. Anime episodes are longer! I hope they're going straight to DVD's. (Just because people not in Japan will get them faster.)

Yep, seven chapters, each corresponding to a chapter of the book. Chapter " " (blank) has apparently been officially pronounced unmovie-fiable.

Chapters:
1. Fukan Fuukei = A Scene from Above
2. Satsujin Kousatsu (Zen) = An Insight into Murder (First Half)
3. Tsuukaku Zanryuu = The Remnance of Pain
4. Garan No Dou = Cathedral Cave / An Empty Space [<- characteristic wordplay]
5. Mujun Rasen = Spiral Contradiction
6. Boukyaku Rokuon = Recording Forgetting
7. Satsujin Kousatsu (Kou) = An Insight into Murder (Second Half)

If my memory is correct each chapter does form an episode, with a beginning and and end, so it's definitely going to be something more than one movie chopped into seven parts for better marketing.

I am definitely going to see this one. Wonder if I can get my old friend in high school to tag along. The viewings are supposedly uber late but that's never been a problem =3

*edit*
You know, because I have nothing better to do with my time, being a hikikomori NEET, I'll translate the episode synopsis' I found on the typemoon page here: http://www.typemoon.org/kara/main.html Excuse my broken English and my less than poetic way with words.

1/Fukan Fuukei / A Scene from Above
It is the end of summer, and there's talk of multiple suicides among young girls.
The cause of death for every case is falling from the rooftop of a tall building.
The tallest building in the city is like the tower out of a picture book.
On nights when the moon is bright, the specters of the fallen girls come into being.
---Ironic that they fly where they once fell, that was what Aozaki Toko had murmured.
It is the very definition of suicide. One way out of many to feel the breath of life.
...in short, there are two kinds of flight.
To flee without a cause, and to flee with a cause.
In general the former is called floating, and the latter is called flight---.

2/Satsujin Kousatsu (First Half) / An Insight into Murder
It was when they were still highschoolers.
A series of grotesque murders had occured, and the night city had been robbed of its livery by an unknown killer.
Upon becoming friendly with Ryogi Shiki, Kokutou Mikiya is told of the existence of another SHIKI.
Shiki of the affirmative persona. And SHIKI of the negative persona.
...SHIKI is the young boy's name, and the only thing he knows is murder.
The continuance of the bizarre killings. The sight of Ryogi Shiki, standing in ecstacy at the scene of the crime.
This insight will be concluded three years hence.

3/Tsuukaku Zanryuu / The Remance of Pain
Having just awoken from a coma, Ryogi Shiki ends up helping Aozaki Toko with her work,
unable to feel that she is really alive.
Asaue Fujino. The wound she had bore will continue to cause pain, even after it has fully healed.
The girl wreaks repeated vengeance to escape from her pain, and evolves into an indiscriminate killer.
Insensitivity to pain. A person who's existence itself fails to conform to society. The "phenomenon" of psychic power.
The "eyes" of the girl, able to bend anything that she sees in them.
Within nostalgic summer rainfall, Ryogi Shiki must fight a young girl who possesses a power that is the most effective killing device.

4/Garan No Dou / Cathedral Cave or An Empty Space
July, two years after the accident.
Ryogi Shiki recovered miraculously from her long coma.
Yet the Ryogi Shiki who had awoken was different from the Ryogi Shiki before.
A lack of emotion, and a sense of uncertainty at being alive.
Shiki senses something conclusively lacking within herself.
Existing as immaterialistically as a ghost and closing herself from visitors,
Shiki chances to meet a magician who calls herself Aozaki Toko in her hospital room.---

If you affirm everything, you can never be hurt.
If you reject everything, you can only be hurt.
The hearts of the two are as hollow as a temple.
Because there is only the two edges of affirmation and rejection.
Because there is nothing inside them.
Because I am inside them.

5/Mujun Rasen / Spiral Contradiction
Bind the fortunes spin the four elements and you will be taken to Ryogi
Tonight, I shall await you at the conflicting spirals.

6/Boukyaku Rokuon / Recording Forgetting
Kokutou Azaka. Kokutou Mikiya's sister, who became an apprentice of Aozaki Toko to take back her elder brother from Shiki.
At the dormitory of her all girls school, letters being arriving to the students writing about forgotten memories.
Yet how were those memories trapped, when even their owners have forgotten them?
In an enclosed space, a school closed off so the filth of the outer world does not intrude,
Shiki intrudes, disguised as one of the students.
The designated seal. The phenomenon known as the Book of False God. A magician who uses the common tongue of men before the fall of Babel,
shapes Shiki's forgotten memories.
I am searching for eternity, the Book of False God speaks.
Yet the orange magician sings.
---How unfruitful. You can find a thing like eternity everywhere you look.

7/Satsujin Kousatsu (Second Half) / An Insight into Murder
She who regains her past is pressed to pay for her actions.
The return of the serial killer of three years past.
Unable to deny that she herself may be the killer, Ryogi Shiki disappears from Kokutou Mikiya.
Kokutou Mikiya's seaches for Ryogi Shiki. The bizarre killings continue almost daily.
Black and White.
Kokutou Mikiya finds the truth of Ryogi Shiki, and the truth of the case three years ago.

An insight into the action called murder.
---Tokosan, what is the reason that one person kills another?
The answer is not so outlandish.
It is a terribly simple, and consequently a general purpose, insight.

-----------------The body is a sword.
The blood is iron, the heart of glass.
Over countless battlefields undefeated.
Never once to flee,
And never once to be understood.
Atop the hill of swords she drinks the dregs of victory in her solitude.

Therefore her lifetime held no meaning,
and I’m sure her body was a sword.
