Hmm will this most likely be a novel or visual novel?

If you're all for word puzzles, then Witch/Holy Night => Witch on a Holy Night, since the / sign is also the division sign. ;)

Also, seems to be a 'normal' novel.

Wasn't this originally a paper novel which is now being turned into a visual novel?

I think I've heard of this. Is this supposed to be the novel that Nasu wrote but only gave copies of it to close friends and relatives, or something?

He said something about it being his best work, but he didn't want to release it in present form.

He said, that he was embarrassed to release it, but now he rewrote it almost completely.

Indeed.

The latest Type-MOON ACE magazine has it slated for release in early 2009 (something like 7000 yen. 6800? Something like that). Setting is late 1980s

It will be ALL-AGES, also.

Nothing too much beyond that except some character info.

Quick edit: Also, the art will be by Koyama, not Takeuchi. Koyama was responsible for the very beautiful art of the DDD works (also written by Nasu).

Koyama is also the "third man" in the company. He's the Graphic Team Boss, weapon designer etc...

hmm, so anyone knows how to fit this altogether with his other works? timeline-wise, of course. :P

by timeline, I mean, did the events happen before or after tsukihime and stuffs? I suppose it's like a prequel or something? :P

Tsukihime is around 1999-2000.
Fate/stay night is in 2004.
Fate/Zero in 1994.
Kara no Kyoukai in 1995(Chapter 2) -1998(Chapters 1, 3, 4, 5) -1999(Chapters 6, 7).

hmm? pure coincidence? lol ( I mean, those are the same as the release years :P )

so shiki is basically older than shirou... hmm ^^

Yeah of course. The thing is, you can get the dates due to certain info, Ciel's birth, Fate/Zero cultural references, Kirei's birth... etc...

Then, you can estimate the rest. For example, Shirou, Rin, Shinji born in 1986-1987, Sakura in 1987-1988, and that.

I'm a little uncertain on Tsukihime's time frame.

I've heard pretty conflicting information about it.

Supposedly, the dates do not match to 1999 (in the game, they gave you day of week as well as the date. e.g. "Wednesday October 12th" (not an actual game date. Made it up. If it matches then it's a coincidence) and the days of week don't match (i.e. October 12th of 1999 was not Wednesday (once again, made up as example))

And I've also been thinking. Rakkyo and Tsuki are in parallel dimensions, right? (Or was that only Fate -> Tsuki/Rakkyo) So is Mahou in the same dimension as Tsuki or Rakkyo? :P (Or neither? o_O)

Ciel's birth, May 3 1976. You didn't need more info.

Japanese people fixed Tsukihime date as 1999 thanks to that. There are more things like Crimson Moon in the 3000 and Tatari's phenomenon. Days not matching isn't really a bother, maybe TYPE-MOON do it at random.

I thought Fate was set in 2000, because when I read Fate/Zero wasn't that set in 1990 and Fate is ten years after wasn't it?

Fate/Zero mentions Clinton as President of EEUU. 1990 is early. 1994 fits with all the info we have (Kirei's birth and all of that) and also, fit with Fate/stay night's release date, 2004.
