This will be a day, for the history of gaming.

Seriously, if you can't understand StarCraft's brilliance, your not a good gamer.

What if you just don't like RTS? +p

I love Starcraft but Starcraft 2 just doesn't look that appealing. I'd rather get Diablo 3. lol

Even if you dun like RTS, you still should like Starcraft, it and it's various different gameplay maps make it fun as hell, better than Warcraft 3:P

AHHA!~ So I'm not crazy! My high school friends called me crazy for thinking WarCraft 3 sucked!! All they did was play the same fucking tower defense maps we played in StarCraft, and never played any melee.

Warcraft 3, did not suck, it just merely...isn't up to par with Starcraft.

It really shows, because more people play Starcraft, than Warcraft 3, even though Warcraft 3 seems to have leagues over content, compared to Starcraft, and it's system requirments are very low too...SC beats it, because of overall general quality of balance and the custom maps are more finely tuned.

Sure, you can add custom models and even sprites in warcraft 3, but it just doesn't have the same feel as Starcraft is all.

I have had Starcraft since 2000 and I still love the game, not many games can hold interest for so long, like that. Sure, I take breaks, but I ALWAYS go back to it. :P

I really don't quite understand why you are calling it an expansion pack. All sequals are just about the same. A few new units, a few new tweaks to the ui, a few new features. It is rare you see a complete overhaul of the entire game.

Warcraft 3? : D (okay, you said rare...)

I personally like wc3 over sc for playing. The way the game plays is much more appealing to me. On the other hand, as far as atmosphere goes wc3 is sadly lacking compared to wc2 and sc. The music sucks, and the graphics make me think of Alice in Wonderland ~~

Basically, I'd rather play the sc campaign but I'd rather ladder in wc3.

If they do make a D3 I hope they will remake the concept a bit. The atmosphere from the first game is completely gone in D2. There's too much joke-cracking and too little story lying around : ) Not to mention that most areas are horribly boring and unimaginative. I'd rather play a full-fledged rpg in the diablo world (it's not a bad world imo).

As for sc2, I'm happy it's coming, but it's a huge risk blizzard is taking. Consider the damage to credibility if the game comes off as half-assed (as it seems to me atm).

After watching the gameplay movie I couldn't help think that the designers had watched the new star wars movies too many times, and on top of that looked over EA's shoulder (at c&c3 that is). I really, really hope they rethink some of those units : /

Still, (almost) no matter how it turns out I'm buying it. Whether I'll ladder in sc2 or stay with wc3 is another deal though...

I've never pre-ordered a game before : /

Correct me if I'm wrong, but that does cost more, doesn't it?

Preordering shouldn't cost anything more. If anything, it'd give you free shipping or something like that.

/me is kind of amused that his vote is still all alone ^__^;

You'd really have to live under a rock, and repeatedly bang your head against it to not know what SC is : /

Hmm... No extra cost you say? In that case I'll have to look into it ;)

preordering is free in the sense that the money you pay upfront as a deposit goes towards paying off the rest of the game's price

example:

game costs 50 dollars total, preorder charge is 10 dollars deposit

you pay 10 dollars to preorder...game is released..you receive phonecall to pick it up....you pay the remaining 40 dollars..then you take the game home to play

some people just choose to do it for highly anticipated titles so that they are guaranteed to take one home on the release date without having to wait for later shipments

The only disappointment and half assed game Blizzard has ever released is WoW, other than that, they do not disappoint.

But living up to the original Starcraft, WILL be hard, but let's hope they can do it.

Knowing Blizzard, 2009.

They already told the press that SC2 in 2007 is "definitely not happening", so... just forget about it for now.

Don't be surprised if they cancel it at 99.9% completion. Wouldn't be the first time :p
Blizzard demands utter and total perfection from themselves. If they think SC2 won't be able to compete with whatever RTS is out there around its scheduled release date, they'll either delay or cancel it. So yeah... 2009. At the very least.
