Well, as far as i remember this forum has some anti proxy plugin installed to prevent spambots and malicious users from registering.

It's buggy though as it seems, since legitimate people most likely with transparent proxies forced on them by their isp can't register either.

very irritating, but maybe it's better than having bots spam the forums.. mostly I have to log onto the forums from work to be able to access it..

Typical error "Error scanning for proxy's"

My normal reply in an email to this issue.

"This error normally occurs when people are attempting to use Bittorrent or another p2p while registering on the forum. The website checks your connection for open proxy's, and if it cannot make a connection to your machine, this error will be generated. If you have some kind of excessive download is progress, simply try again a bit later after terminating them. Also, if you are using Firefox, try clearing your cache before revisiting the forum, as this sometimes is a problem too."

The biggest issue seems to be Firefox keeping this page in cache. Usually clearing the cache and retrying will fix this issue.

do you usually have any p2p programs running? since that's what the problem comes from.

Only Open Proxy's are blocked. An open proxy's are proxy's anyone can access. They are normally used to people avoiding bans, or my spam bots to spam forums.

Goodness, so all I needed to do was to close down bittorrent? Well, it's all good now, but I think you should inform people about that a bit more. At least make it clearly visible in the first post of the sticky.

I've noticed that using the login at the end of the forum page can cause the login to fail. So I'm woundering if other have this happening as well.
