Translated visual novels other than Tsukihime

Unread postby Isaac » March 6th, 2007, 12:00 pm

Tsukihime has been my first visual novel and i have enjoyed it a lot, so i have been looking for another good one with no luck until now...
Seems like the best ones are not translated yet...

Enlighten me guys, do you know any good translated visual novel?

I dont care if its ero or not if the argument is interesting.

Thank you!

Depends on what kind of story you're looking for really. Ever17 is a pretty good sci-fi/suspense type story, translated by Hirameki. You should look up insani's website and the al|together translations, you can find a lot of shorter free novels translated there (of those, Narcissu is pretty good). NNL recently released a translation of Wind, if you're into those school-romance type stories. VisualNews.net is a news site about translations, so you can check there for some info as well.

I remember Narcissu and Planetarian were both good.

Though I'll admit I look Tsukihime better. XD

Thanks for the info!

Drama, suspense and sci fi sounds good to me! Ill try Ever17, and Narcissu too, but im not into school-romance...

Right now i was trying to play Fate/stay Night by the "Text hooker + Atlas" method, but the babblefish-ish translation doesnt work with such complicated dialogues, after 15 min i decided that is better wait for the fan translation...

planetarian is a must. It's a shame there's no translation for the full voiced version...

You said you're not really interested in school romance type things, but for anyone else who hasn't played them, Kana~ Little Sister and Crescendo are both amazing games. They also both have ponos and vagoo. But it's even more plot tied than Tsukihime, which really just had blatant sex at a few points...

Narcissu was enjoyable too. A bit slow paced and half predictable, but enjoyable.

I really need to check out Ever17... Perth must be the worst city in the world for getting visual novels, let alone in Australia. Especially considering nearly everyone's default opinion is either that they're for sad middle aged men with sex dolls, or that they're for horny teenage kids and only consist of porn. Convincing anyone otherwise is fairly difficult.

I actaully played ever 17 all the way.

And I must say.. damn.. it was REALLY good.

It has been localized and you can buy it online fairly easy.

This is what you're looking for. This is a site containing most of all fan translated visual novels ever attempted. It links to their translation sites.

http://www.shii.org/translate/

This is another site that has direct downloads to the English patches. Look under Downloads on the left side.

Hiyas! I'm new here, so I would first like to give my SUPER(Maybe even Mega Super) thanks for translating Fate! I can not wait for you guys to finish editing the next path(And update the percentage on the homepage, it makes me cry still seeing 3% :D ) Anyways, on with my real question. Does anyone know of some good visual novels that have been translated where you actually get to play as a girl? Only one I have played so far is Bodyguard. which was ok, but certainly not great. Anyways, have fun everyone!

That would be strange...

So, what would you do in that game? Go around dating 2 or 4 guys and each having sex with them? Well, it doesn't have to have sex but...it would be very strange.

well, there is a lot of girl doujin out there, but I think girls are usually better at drawing then at scripting, so thats why a VN is harder to get by, but I guess there should be at least some doujin ones :3 (not that I know of tho, but I don't know that much :3)

I wouldn't mind playing one for once :3

Well, like I said before, if you just wanna try one out http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yo-Jin-Bo is out there and has an official translation. It should be REALLY cheap to pick up. It's kinda fun, it's odd to see Samurai make puns based on 1990 pop culture though. Still, it's all I know of right now!

I wouldn't mind either but the only one I can think of right now is the X change series and the yin yang game. Those are translated but they are centered mostly around...well..sex. AND its a story about a guy turning, I guess "magically", into a girl so..........I don't think you would want it.

Well, I don't mind if there is sex and stuff in it, as long as it is a good story and/or fun. But yeah, a story centered around sex and a guy turning into a girl isn't quite the same.
