What you do with yor Media once you're done?

Unread postby Henza » June 14th, 2009, 11:11 am

Hey guys, i've been running out of space on most of my hard disks and i suddenly wanted to know what you did with your [anime/manga/games/whatever media] once you've finished watching it? Like, where do you store it, or do you just delete it?

=)
Wow, i found out how to use a Sig. Besides that, how to come here everyday without wasting too much time?

I'll worry about this after I fill up the 1.5TB I've got... but odds are I'd dish out for another 1TB drive since they've dropped about $70-$100 since I bought the one I've got and I've got like 7 more SATA slots open on my motherboard.

Make a backup of things and open space in your HD if you don't want to buy a new one...

If it's a series you plan on watching some other time after finishing it then keep it. although if the series was a waste of valuable time then just remove it from the hard drive.

I put them back in their case and file them neatly back into the collection :D
Even though I don't watch fansub anime [probably wouldn't buy any anime if I did]; I have probably 300 4.5 GB dvds (cheap!) currently being used to backup other data;..

Oh and it's probably a good idea to compress your data before backing up with some kind of rebuildable and high compressable format... I don't know what's really good out there so I just use .rar; and add recovery records + split the files up.
If it's already compressed though (compressed music, video), to save time just set it to store and add a recovery record...

Sheeeit! I suspect you have tons of them, then.

Anyway, I'm saving for a Blu Ray burner. DVDs capacity no longer meets my needs of storage.

^I know what you mean. All those GBs of porn can't just be deleted.

Now seriously, most of the time I delete unless I like it a lot.

Hard drive storage is cheaper per GB (~$A0.12) than BluRay storage (~$A0.60), as well as being 'on hand' (unless you have so many HDs that you can't have them all hooked up, in which case you'd start investing in external HD cases), unlike BluRay where you have to find the disc with the file you're looking for, put it into the computer, etc.

Yeah, it's more portable, but how often are you going to be taking disc #8 to parties just because there's one video on it that everyone likes? And how many people have BluRay players (yeah, there's starting to be quite a few, what with the PS3 and the geeks with one in their computer, but I'm talking more about the average person)? You may as well just burn the file to DVD when you need to, and save money. :/ Or, if you're a real cheapskate (heh), you can always bring an external harddrive.

I also just buy one when the time comes. I don't buy something under the 500GB mark though, since it'll definitely mean I'll be after another one very soon.

That's only if it wasn't a good one to watch. I mean a few hentai series I've watched I actually kept because I liked them very much. Although that one it depends on your tastes and if you can still be able to... well you know. So it's pretty much boils down to tastes and if you liked how it went and whatnot.
