I'm still running the computer I built nearly three years ago (come October).

CPU - Athlon 2000+
RAM - 512MB Mushkin! PC2700
Hard Drive - 200GB Seagate 7200 RPM ATA133
Video Card - GeForce 6200 128MB (RIP Radion 9700 Pro)
OS - Windows XP Pro SP2
Media Drive - NEC ND3500AG DVD-/+R/RW 16X

And crap hooked to it.

Ugh, this is where people start making fun of me.

Windows XP Professional - Upgraded from 98
Intel Pentium 4 1.60GHz CPU
256MB of RAM
40GB hard drive
NVIDIA GeForce 2 MX/MX 400
52x CD-RW drive
And of course a floppy drive.

As you can see, it's somewhat of a problem for me to run alot of things, along with merely holding them on my computer.

Thankfully, I'm getting a new computer sometime within the next month, which is about 3 times as good, and 3 times cheaper than mine was -.-'

Also a 400GB hard drive. *GLEE*

The setup I bought November 2002...

Processor - P4-2.66, 533 FSB
RAM - 256MB 333 DDR
Video - GeForce 4Ti 4200 128 MB AGP 8x
HDD - Seagate Barracuda ATA V 120 GB ATA-100
Drives - 48x32x50 CDRW and 16x DVD
Other - 450W PSU, videocapture card with Phillips chipset, frontpanel with cardreaders and loads of connectors, extra silent case design and components.

Two years ago I got an extra 256MB of RAM and over the years I've added an MSI DVD+/-RW drive and two Maxtor DiamondMax Plus 9 120GB HDDs. I'm putting them in a RAID array today, having added a Seagate Barracuda 7200.10 320GB HDD.

It's still a good enough PC, but the ancient videocard is showing its limits daily. No Higuarshi Daybreak on this machine. ;__; With all this storage capacity, I think getting a new 3D accelerator is now the first thing on my list. If someone knows a relatively new AGP8 card for almost free that can be shipped to the Netherlands, let me know.

Here's my system configuration:

CPU - P4 2.4GHz HT Socket 478
RAM - 512MB Corsair PC3200
Hard Drive - 200GB Western Digital SATA
Video Card - GeForce 5200 LE 128MB DDR
Sound Card - Sound Blaster Live! Value
DVD - Pioneer 16x DVD+/-R +RW/DL
CD - LiteOn 52x CD-R/RW
OS - Windows XP Pro SP2

I built this computer about 3-4 years ago.
It does all I want it to do, but I might upgrade it when I get a little more money.
It's a bit slow at video editing compared to today's computers.

You could probably find something on Amazon.com, but that would depend on your definition of "almost free".

I think my windows pc wins with being the worse -_-

NVIDEO geforce 2 pro 64 MB
build it 5.5 years ago ^^;;;;

may be reviving an old thread, but it still counts when you get a new machine no?

anyway, here goes!

amd athlon 64 x2 dual core 3800+
2GB ram ddr2 667Mhz
nvidia Geforce 8600 GT 256MB
slapped in a regular dvd burner dual layer, old floppy, and my 500gb HD, wich i wiped because of my windows xp cd that didn't recognize a 365gb partition without service pack 2...

playing fear at max settings at 63 fps! talking 1280 X 1024 at 120 Hz

as soon as i get more cash, i'll upgrade the cpu to a 5600+
