The only problem with that is if she has a good memory, she might ask you to show her how awesome your project has become.

that ain't gonna work,dude...
you see, I don't have the freedom to spend my own money for expensive things...(i must discuss this matter with my parents before buying, or something like that)
plastic models and figurines are ok, but not things that can be used to play games...
anyway, I really appreciate all the advices you guys gave me...

Intel Pentium 4 1.60GHz CPU

NVIDIA GeForce 2 MX/MX 400
52x CD-RW drive
And of course a floppy drive.

As you can see, it's somewhat of a problem for me to run alot of things, along with merely holding them on my computer.

Thankfully, I'm getting a new computer sometime within the next month, which is about 3 times as good, and 3 times cheaper than mine was -.-'

Also a 400GB hard drive. *GLEE*

Oh My God!! Exactly the same here!! You are my brother. Oh wait, You got a new one already...

Save up till you get older and out of your parent's grasp. :P

Besides, if you do that, you'll get to buy a more advance computer than what we have now.

Oh and a little tip, never buy a computer already built. Buy it part by part.

great idea, much cheaper and more effective...
the drawback is that the computer's short-lived,no?
and you've got to assemble it yourself, or find someone who's able to...

Not necessarily. I've found that I've had fewer problems with most custom computers than with any prebuilt machine. Seems that many manufacturers like to use cheaper parts to reduce cost. Plus with a custom, you get the added benefit of making the computer exactly how you want it. Course then you don't get any warranty, so if it does break, you're on your own.

Assembling a computer is hard? It's pretty easy.

O, i just got my new computer a few days ago. My friends all say its very unnecessary for the parts to be that 'good'.

I'll jot down what my brother had on the list:

Q6600
Corsair 5-5-5 PC2-6400 Twinx2x XMS2 4GB (2x 2GB)
Asus P5N32-E SLI
Nvidia 8800GTX
Creative X-Fi
Seagate 500GB HDD (at least i know what THIS is)

That's some of the parts that i got for the comp. What are your opinions on these parts?

Btw, i got no idea what most of them are, and what they do

Well, that video card isn't very good. You should probably switch out for something like a 7600. If you like I'll trade mine :)

Don't take advantage of him! XD

Ehhh...Let's see

Q6600 = Your computer processing chip. Looks like a Quad-core, if i'm not wrong. Pretty good.
Corsair 5-5-5 PC2-6400 Twinx2x XMS2 4GB (2x 2GB) = Your memory, or RAM. You have 4GBs worth?! Man my laptop has like 1.256GBs worth...
Asus P5N32-E SLI = ...This *should* be your motherboard, IINW. No idea how good it is though.
Nvidia 8800GTX = And this is why I said what I said. Your video card should be, if technology hasn't advanced that much yet, the best consumer graphic card in existence. He's pulling your leg lol.
Creative X-Fi = Possibly one of the best sound cards ever. Almost top of the line. (My Singaporean bias is rising up here XD, but it IS very good.)

In essence, all you need is like a 24/30 inch LCD monitor, a bunch of 7.1 speakers, and Vista Ultimate (or in some people's case, XP), and you pretty much have a PC that will make quite a lot of people drool after.

Including me.

Yup, motherboard. From what I've heard the P5 boards are pretty stable and easy to overclock (though with that rig you don't really need to).

Not quite, the 8800Ultra is one step higher, though it's basically just the same card but clocked faster. And yes, I was pulling your leg... and I would've gotten away with it too, if it wasn't for you meddling kids.

For the sake of completeness, find out which x-fi card it is. Some of the higher end ones are great for most everything, while I would prefer onboard sound to some of the "budget" x-fi cards.

Damn, guys. You're all spending too much on parts that you don't really need to play the latest games.

I mean, come on, buying an 8800? What do you need it for? Crysis? It's just a damn FPS. =p

It is.

But the posts about the card not going well with the Crysis beta says something...

Its Oblivion again. Unless, of course, they optimized the final product.

Yeah, but Oblivion sucked so that's a moot point. Anyways, having a kickass computer is more about brag points and being future proof rather than needing to play current games.
