The rumoured April fool virus

Unread postby Xamdou » March 30th, 2009, 1:45 pm

As the title said.

there's some rumours around the webs and news in yahoo abbout an April fool day virus attack. Anyone knows if its a real virus attack or a prank from the microsoft company?

Yeah for some reason I'm kind of weary about this since I think this was done same time last year. But sometimes I wonder if the news actually did a segment on saying that this was real or not.

but you know...

If it really is a prank of microsoft, it is one with very bad taste.
I mean, some people are bound to believe it and tell other people causing panic to spread among the population.

It is like that time when "The war of the worlds" was put on air in 1938.

or the boy who called "wolf"

Ok what did you want from me again?

Ok so that was a poor excuse to go with the joke there, but I think it was needed.

It actually has it's own wiki page which is very supprising for a virus. I mean if it has one then that means it is either a joke or not. Although this virus/worm was spotted sometime late last year. Although it's kind of redicilus on saying that Microsoft didn't do anything to counteract it as of late.

In any case with that being said I'm just planning on spending my time offline all day on April 1st just to be sure of course.

Except with War of the Worlds, they actually said that it was a reading of the book. They didn't try to pass it off as real. People are just stupid.

And it was true :) The virus was in fact already spread, just on april fool's it mutated and became a hell of a lot harder to get out. Heuristics be damned, this thing became a real tough nut.

thats right..read a couple articles about it on pc mags and seems that this is a passive virus..microsoft as usual with their, update your pc and it'll be Ooookaaaayyy...practically the virus nests in your computer and on april 1st, it build a barricade and used super glue to stick on to you..the only way to remove it, is by feeling the pain..or, microsoft actually will produce effective programs for once..currently, your only hope, prevent getting it in the first place..dont instantly click all the porn ads you get ooookaaaaayyyy

not really too scary. You have to be missing your brain stem to trust an anti-virus program you have never installed. I got that a while ago, took one look at it and killed it before it finished its fake scan. Removing it was a bit of a pain seeing it roots itself in there but now that its been a while, most anti-spyware know what to look for.

The scary part i meant isn't the installer thing but it's the part on how it infected and affected military forces of European countries.

Btw , the bounty looks appealing :D
