Are the tsukihime games on eBay illegal?

Unread postby IlluminaX » March 1st, 2009, 1:11 am

Hey guys,

Sorry if this is in the wrong place, but its my first post.

So recently I bought a Tsukihime game on eBay for pretty cheap. I just got the game today and it was not what I expected, all the "game" was was the image of the Japanese game in an iso + an fanmade english translation(by mirror moon) that led me here.

The game was working but on the translation it said it should not be sold for profit or anything like that. Is that illegal or are you guys actually working together with this guy and give him permission to do it?

Let me know and hopefully I didn't fall for some guy's scam.

It's obviously a scam if you think about it.

mirror moon is just a fan translation, they can not have anything to do with the distribution of the source material (aka the ISO) and I believe they said as much in the readme. So no, they can not be involved with whoever sold you that disk even if they wanted to.

damn it, it was pretty fishy now that I think about it.

Wow, what a bastard, using someone else's hard work for personal profit. How is he allowed to continue to do that?

b/c one of the reasons i bought it was b/c he had 100% feedback and other ppl bought the same thing.

Oh, but if you decide to look for the game on Yahoo auction, Japan side. Also if you don't live in Japan, This Rinkya is really good for an auction agent. They do cost a lot to use in my opinion, but they have excellent customer support. You can find a link to the game from here. http://forums.mirrormoon.org/viewtopic.php?t=2320 FAQS number 5. That should have the link to the Japanese side and will take you to some products.

Anywho good luck with it. I never really had anyone bid against me on that site before. Also I been able to find some rare finds from them too.

Side note there are two different plus discs. and mirrormoon only supports one verison of it. Ya I found this out the hard way.

If you bought off of megaworrier, you would've realised from the product description that it was a bootleg.
I've been reporting him on the US and AU sites ever since I saw him. Bastard.

eBay just ignore the reports?

He got removed from the AU site, but not the US site. The first time, I got someone from the US to report him, but the next time I came across him (about two weeks later), I reported him. He's still there. *curses repeatedly*

In addition to what I1nk said, the version mm supports is Plus+Disc, which comes with Tsukibako. Tsukibako also contains Tsukihime and Kagetsu Tohya - which are compatible with the mm patch for Tsukihime, and the Beast's Lair patch for Kagetsu Tohya.
...for obvious reasons, getting a hold of Tsukibako is recommended.

EDIT: Hmm. Can't seem to find him anymore?

Doh, I completely forgot about this... I was gonna organize a report spamming session by putting this asshole up on mirrormoon.org... Sadly I'm too busy at the moment, so if someone can collect the links of all his auctions and paste them here, including direct links to reporting them, I can make a post on the site.

If enough people join, maybe eBay will listen.

When I went to look just after posting my previous post in this thread, I discovered that I can't find any such listings anymore.
Hurrah!

This post poof'd at request of the person who's information is contained within, let us keep in mind that posting other people's information on the internet without their consent is probably a bad idea.

Some gay porn sites, maybe?

I would report to his college that he is selling counterfeit goods. EDIT: That is, get the police to contact 'em. :P

EDIT:
Report link for Tsukihime: http://cgi1.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?R ... r&active=1

(they're always at the very bottom of the page)

So, i just have to fill that report? I've never done anything on ebay.

Some gay porn sites, maybe?

We get his picture and e-mail and make an account on some gay forum, we give a list of random hobbies, favorite kind of man, underwear he uses... you know.

Of course, it all goes to hell if he's into it. Then we would need to go into some other sites but... yeah noone wants to go too deep <_<

Or just report him to his university. Any university that's worth half their pride would pay very serious attention to illegal ware traffic, more so if it's an engineering school. I know my school make this a part of the student conduct code.

Make a formal letter, and if you're in college yourself I would even better if you send the email using your University email system instead of a generic one like Yahoo/Google. Trust me, I did that in the past and it gives your voice a hell lot more weight.

Giving away personal information for spamming is also wrong. Remember that two wrongs do not make a right. So it's not right to post the person's personal information on this site. That could attract the wrong people. The site also has a little disclaimer on it too. See above for a quote.

You can also report the item from this link too http://pages.ebay.com/help/policies/replica-counterfeit.html, but you will need the item number for this type of report. I believe the person who bought the item will have the best story since they will be able to give a first hand account of the item being a "bootleg" item. It will make the complaint more believable if it was done like this.

Yes Tsukibako is highly recommend if you want to play the game. You will save some money in the long run. It is also easier to find the right Plus+Disc this way too. Ahh I remember when I saw both games face to face, but I bought the cheaper version of the game since I didn't know there were a major difference. (I was in a used game store. Yes you can find almost any game in Akihabara. That is the best place for games and anime stuff.)
