Neo Tokyo - Source Engine mod.

If Black Mesa Source didn't show you just how much people can REALLY do with the Source Engine, this mod will solidify your beliefs.

Official Site:

Moddb page:

Trailer Link: ... r#imagebox

Of course, you can also download 720p versions of the Trailer, much higher quality, but this is just to let you see it quickly.

Official FAQ:

It's coming out soon, Q1 2009.

Honestly, it's the only mod besides Black Mesa Source that has done so much work, I honestly believe. They've been working on it since Source's release and the quality shows. The Music is intense, the graphics are awesome for Source.

All of the devs have jobs are real Studios or so by now, and work on this on the side. Music was done in professional studios and by a very talented music maker. :P It's free of course, although the quality of it made me believe otherwise when I first saw the trailer. This mod, once it's released, I'm sure it'll get a Steamworks debut and become insanely popular. If mods with half as much work as it can garner over a thousand con-current players, this surely can.

One quote I like is a a Developer Banter, one of the Reviewers of the Mod on Moddb said...

"It's like Counter-Strike & Rainbow Six had a fucking awesome baby"

I've recently been addicted to all the Media releases lately and a big fan, after finding out about it and all the little things. It looks intense, it makes almost all the other mods look like peanuts. :P(In terms of Quality) They even animated Ankles...very rare. :P I've been spamming all my friends with it and I honestly believe it'll do well.

This really showcases what dedicated mod teams can do. I'm sure that if this goes off with a bang, they could start a franchise if it gets popular enough. They have enough backround story to really start something up.

22 Weapons, 8 maps on release(20 Official maps planned), now that's good. Unlockables, Achievements, stuff like that.

I hope Valve buys them up, highly unlikely, but I believe they deserve it almost as much as Black Mesa Source does. It makes Dystopia look like they weren't even trying. :P

That's pretty epic for a team of six.

Of course, and they also didn't release alot of media until they were close to release;

In the Developer banter they stated they think mods that release sceenshots every week of a render, or ingame model, are like torture for a fan really. What they did was tell people a mod was going to come out eventually, show some concept artwork, and then fade to obscurity. They said to many mods were releasing stupid Renders, like a Render of a barrel, or wall, and didn't wanna be like that.

They're called Studio Radi-8 Internally and are developing their own Engine for future projects. Radi-8 Engine.(That name sounds so awesome for some reason:P)

Think about it "Oh, that's on the Radi Engine" Just sounds like it could become something.
