Decompiling .dat files

Decompiling .dat files

I looked around using google to find a dat file decompiler, but i couldnt find it.

Anyway, Does anybody know a program I can use to decompile .dat files? The reason is, I want the BGM from Ever 17, but its all in one .dat file. What I'm asking is how can I seperate the songs from this type of file?

I don't know if it's against the forum rules to discuss this but...
You'll have to "extract" the file you need from the .dat file.

Try Crage, YanePack, or ExtractData...

if he owns the game, extracting stuff from it isn't anymore illegal than applying fanmade translation patches to games. hell, it's actually less illegal since you don't hack/modify the game in any way. :o

well i dont think you can find something....since .dat became a rare case of a "standard" (note the quotes) for data packaging

for what i've read every company could have its own format to make .dat, heck even I used that extension for a project a year ago using Java so....

so...i think (and can be mistaken) that you would actually need someone who is able to reverse-engineer the .dat and figure which parts are the actual music....

So basically, its a big hassle to open these files.

I guess I would have to find some other means to get the music.
