Insani did the trial edition and the full edition. So if you want to play the demo, sure, it's in English. If you want to play the whole game, it also has an English patch.

The Wind -a breath of heart- English version was all over the place. Nobody's going to bother to retranslate it, so the English-only community will never know of whatever genius is in the original game. A 'do not play in English' warning is stamped on that one, imho.

Is the translation of Wind that awful ?? I never had the chance to play it yet....

It was NNL that worked on it, right... Their fansub are decent to me, dunno about full game translation though.

It's not so much that the translation itself was bad, what bothers most people (including me, and it's the reason why I haven't played it yet) is the fact that the translation team cut out nearly 25% of the game.

If you look under their methodology logs, you'll notice that what they've cut out don't contribute to the story and are awkward and redundant as part of the original script.

So yeah, you're not missing anything content-wise. If anything, I personally think they improved the quality of the overall script, but that's just me.

Wha? What d hell?? They cut 25 % of the game for no apparent reason?? Whoa... i thought that their idea to translate ef as a stand alone (hence, warez) was bizarre enough... But now, they actually omit some part of the game (i presume, non-ero) for no apparent reason.. O.o? redudancy? awkward?? Well, if that's how the developer want it to be, then leave it as it is... I thought that's supposed to be principal... Or are they just doesn't want to admit that they're a bit lazy to work on translating those 25%... :?

Not really.

We will be cutting 25% out of HF because it's the same redundent 'omg what is magic' stuff said over and over again. We need to save bandwidth on our server.

it's not something news. I think Wind-Breath of Heart also had a big cut due to redundancy.

Personal I'm for it, even in UBW some of the magical explanation got a little bit bored, they were excellent in Fate the first time, but reading those alien text a second time and it loses the cool. I think it'll improve and make the experience smoother.

Yes, people who read past Fate and UBW have been fed the same introduction 2+ times and if they've read past those they're nerdy enough to remember most details anyway.

Okay, back to topic...
Here's my short review on the games that's also available in English (please keep in mind I've played them in Japanese, so I don't know the quality of the translations)

Planetarium: Key condensed into short time. Personally, I found it a bit too short, and I could see how it was going to end a mile away. Maybe I've played way too many Key games beforehand, but I didn't see anything new out of it. :( I'll give it a 7/10

Kana Imouto: One of the greatest games out there. Tackles the theme of death straight on, and it's impossible not to cry. Yes, it's old, but so what? The great scenario more than makes up for it. 10/10

Ever 17: Yes, the end is mindboggling. Yes, the trick they used is awesome. Yes, last half of Coco route is excellent. But getting there was too much of a pain for me. The other girls' routes were boring. The daily life in Lemu was boring. I didn't feel much life-threatening tension from the characters. 8/10

Whoa! Ero-sensei has spoken....

lol, Anyway, Taka... The girl in your avatar?? it's from "Kazoku Keikaku", right?? Family Project? I read somewhere that it's a work on progress to be translated into English... How good is it?? I'm curious about it, since the developer are saying that it's gonna be the best game to be released (commercially) in English..

Yes, it's from Family Project. I once asked Taka the same thing and got his assurance that it's one of the best eroge ever.

Hopefully it will be released in at most two months. :D

Some CLANNAD review. the other games were pretty much reviewed enough.

This VN is just fantastic. This slipped unharmed through the internet hate machine that is 4chan, just like Ever 17, another top tier vn. I played it recently expecting shit and material to use for trolling, but I was pleasantly surprised, touching and fun stories with a well executed plot, interesting characters and awesome characters interactions. you can't really ask for much more. the best OST i found in a vn. the bad thing: way too long, like twice longer than tsukihime... Kyou route fucking sucks. there is only one bad end, but maybe is one of the twist in the game,as in the end, it's the girls who save the main character, instead of the main character saving the girls like all the others vn. Fuuko's route, i mean WTF ? all the route have like a main theme. Tomoyo's route focuses about romance,Nagisa's route focuses about family with romance in the sidelines,Kyou's route focuses about forced drama,Kotomi's route focuses about friends...Fuko is all about ???? is just a funny route?, she is not even a love interest..

9/10

SUNOHARA IS THE BEST FRIEND CHARACTER EVER. PERIOD.

As a side note, this made read Little Busters!, that it not even near the filth that CLANNAD steps leave. at least Little buster EX will be porn.

Not all of the material cut from the wind -a breath of heart- translation was 'redundant material'. See the route about the two sisters...
Wind FAQ wrote:I just finished Nozomi/Wakaba's endgame. Surely you've got to be joking as to what happened...

You have just been nbkz'd. The endgame of the Fujimiya sisters is indeed awful, and no amount of editing could have cleaned up the mess. Thankfully, both endgames combined clock in at only 1741 text blocks. The unabridged Japanese version was much worse, trust us. Check the chronicle for details if you dare!

If you completed Nozomi's endgame first, you will notice that there is a lot of overlapping in Wakaba's endgame. This was nbkz's way of saying, "Hey! I was too lazy to come up with anything else!"
I don't really like how they justified removing text... Sure, the examples they gave were 'alright, fine, I understand why you did that'... but those were just examples. Of course those of us reading the English translation are 'never going to notice' where material got cut, because we weren't going to play the original Japanese in the first place!

You mean, the first character ever that doesn't have a love-hate relation with the main character? :p

Other than that, yes, It's rare to see death presented so brutally and mature, with the essence of it captured and all it's effects on a human. I've had quite a number of people die on me; and for me this story was absolutely credible in all perspectives.

Hiya... Glad to see you around here again... :D

Kana Imouto got tons of endings.... Which kinda surprise me because as far as i remember, there's not that much choices troughout the game, and some of choices are kinda unimportant when i first played it... Still looking for time to actually play the game all over again...
