Yes, Family Project seems pretty much generic at first sight, that why I put the "first layer or prejudice" bit. The descriptions I put are based on what I first thought when I saw each character interact with one another. So, although it's a joke, to me it's still applicable to some degree.

I haven't finished it (I'm about to finish Chunhua's route, but got lazy, and haven't got Masumi's), but so far it's good. It's not that funny if you want to keep laughing like an idiot, but it has it's share of comedy (how funny you think it really is is completely up to you). It's more of a romance with drama here and there to keep things going. It's somewhat serious because of how it tackles some of the dramatic issues it presents during the story, and I think that's well done, not perfect but much more than okay.

Do I recommend it? It depends on what it is that you expect this game to be. If you want a romantic-comedy with a small but healthy llama showing up from time to time, then yes, it's good and you should try it. But if you want lulz and/or a story with a darker tone and not so generic tints, then you may find yourself disappointed.
If you get the chance, try it until hitting the animated intro; if there's nothing that really motivates you, drop it and get to kill some shit on other video games.

^It looks like it's mostly about the "pick one (or two) and do her(them)" VN. I read through some:
---
Tsuki.-
► Show Spoiler
While it would be nice to read about a schisophrenic, the stalking and mindless sex slave part isn't particularly interesting.
---
Lightning Warrior Raidy.-
► Show Spoiler
BEST VN EVAR?!?!?!

---

Pretty Soldier Wars A.D. 2048.-
► Show Spoiler
Fail. Oh yeah, it has tentacles.

These 3 made my day. There are other ones though, that seem better.
If you disagree, you are wrong.

@Atriel
If you strip everything from the game, then yes, it's a "pick a chick" game. But then again, using that same mentaility, Tsukihime also is. If you put some brains into it, you do know that Tsukihime isn't like that, then the same can also be said about Family Project. It's all a matter on what you want to think about this or that game. I have what could be considered a more "casual" view when it comes to VNs when compared to hardcore goers like the staff members (I suppose) and some of the forum members, and I think that you have that same way of thinking, that's why I'm telling you to check things out before jumping on it completely. But unlike more "casual VN gamers" (does that term even exists?), I try to give each game at least a chance to prove me wrong, Family Project did just that. It entertained me and I liked it more than what I expected. I still recommend it as long as you have what I said in mind.

I think you are a bit confused, what I meant with the "pick a chick" is that the link provided by Dark Habit seemed to contain mostly those kinds of VN, I didn't mean that about Family Project because honestly I have no information about it other than your review on the girls. And to be honest, I may try it when/if I get the chance.

Then I copy-pasted little bits of some reviews I read with the (sarcastically written) impression I got from those reviews. There are some others (VN) in that link that were more interesting, I put those 3 in my previous post because I found the reviews to be particularly hilarious. Tsuki probably being the only one I would try out of my own curiosity, since it seems to go into the mind of a schizo. And who doesn't love a crazy man?

Don't worry, I'm not particularly serious when I'm bashing or making fun of something. Heck, I wouldn't even mind trying any of those 'pick a chick' if someone gave me the CDs/DVDs, I'm sure they can be good if done properly.

Shit, I'm late! Gotta go.

So... My comment is out of place. Ohoho! Well, it ain't the first time it happens! And sure as hell it won't be the last one.
Well, once I get something on my stomach, I intend on finishing Chunhua once and for all!.... Not that anybody cares, though.

Just started playing Navel's Shuffle.
Uptil now it seems to be a light-hearted love comedy, which I am really enjoying.
The graphics are awesome and the background music really blends in.
A really fun VN to play.

MangaGamer released their English version of Shuffle! sometime last week. Haven't decided if I'm going to get it yet or not. I do love the art though, and <3 Asa.

I have to ask did they finally get around to doing a quality check with their work now or what? And here I thought it was the other translator group that had only the first 3 days done, and you were saying they've finally gotten around to finishing it.

Yeah, like Maes said, I have the English version.

@Maes:
If you wanna play a comedy love story ,then Shuffle! fits well into that category.
The only time it gets a bit dramatic is after you "pick" one girl.
Yesterday I completed the Nerine route.Although its like those typical "pick a chick" game, where
life is fun until you pick a girl. Then its gets kinda serious and all that, but this game is in a class of
its own.But one part of the game freaked me out.During the exams, the protagonist's study methods
and grades matched mine too well.I almost fell off my chair.

Just to clarify, Lightning Warrior Raidy is horrendous. It's like, that Encarta game where you wander a dungeon, mixed with Pokemon where wild creatures jump out at you, and a 'VN' where you get text and crap...
It's shit. Not worth it.

Please vote for Sekien no Inganock -What a Beautiful People-

► Show Spoiler
@AlinSabel - I didn't think it was that awful... I mean it was NOT a visual novel, and it had crap for plot; but I enjoyed spending a night dungeon battling ancient retro style with it lol

Never7 is getting my vote out of those. I've been wanting to see another infinity game translated ever since I read Ever17.
