Crescendo is very similar to Narcissu.

Crescendo is a pick a girl game... but if you think about it, Narcissu is a *here's a girl, game. Both are quite sad and quite touching, Crescendo can be seen as 5 of Narcissu put in one package.

It's quite a good idea to play Narcissu first, and if you like it, then you know you'll like Crescendo too.

I don't know what you mean by interesting situation, in Narcissu the characters are faced with impending death. In Crescendo, they are graduating. Granted, they're not quite on the same level but in the way the story is told you'll find them eriely similar.

Snow Sakura has been mentioned before, but at this moment I'm not really interested in getting into "True Love" stories. That doesn't mean that in a later time I won't check it out, but just not right now. Thanks for the recommendation anyway. Why did you like it that much, by the way?

Like i said before.. I give comedy in VN a VERY HIGH RATING... Thats because i find it hard to get some of the 'jokes' that the games are trying to portray. Some of em are quite funny i admit... But Snow Sakura takes top spot, followed by Heart de Roommate i guess...

A very good deal of the credit goes to the 'school life' athmosphere and the lovable characters (both GUYS and GIRLS!).. not to mention the great voice acting of the game.

Just to name afew~~~

A best bud named Sumi, he's a total porn lover and desparate for girls, any girls... A stupid jerk... A stubborn jerk. A lovable jerk... His antics will crack you up...
An airhead history teacher that at times will remind you of Taiga of FSN. Just less... Atheletic and more.. Airheaded and childish.. LOL
An uncle that is perhaps the coolest Uncle you ever know, but WISH that he is NEVER YOURS in the first place. Really...

I cannot stress enough how the characters/voice acting plays a big part of the VN being it highly enjoyable...

Its a great game if you just wanna relax and have a good time reading, with characters you will remember more instead of the main storyline.

I got ahold of Ever17 recently, and even though I haven't finished the first playthrough yet, it's amazing from what I've read so far.

Have to second that, spent a good week playing Ever 17 thoroughly (well technically I'm still missing 6 'paths' and 1 bonus picture :D). Although it's not an 'epic' like F/SN for instance, it has no real weak points (or embarassing moments) and the story is the more captivating the further you get in it. I boast pretty good analytical skills but I wasn't able to crack the bundle of mysteries till the end (of the last route), they pull such optical illusions on you and even use the player's presuppositions against him, don't think the story would work in any other media than a VN. Although it's been mentioned several times can heartfeltly recommend it as well.

Before looking any further that's one game you shouldn't miss.

I thoroughly enjoyed Tsugumi and Coco's routes in Ever17. You's was alright and the rest were kind of weak, imo. But overall it was really amazing, I would definitely recommend it.

Heresy!

I can't agree, all of the routes were pure awesomeness!

But I'll admit that your opinion's not an uncommon one. Perhaps I'm just too much of a fanboy.

After finishing Ever17, I have to recommend the game wholeheartedly now. The person or persons who came up with the scenario for it are f'ing brilliant.

I'm going to spoiler tag this just to be safe >.>
I don't think I can call any of the routes weak because you really have to take all of them together and get the whole picture, Coco's route, but without all the separate routes, Coco's would be much weaker than it is. Each route kept giving me that 'wait, what the hell?' feeling at just the right times too and made me want to read more to figure everything out. Truly a very well done VN, and just more perfect proof of why a VN doesn't need ero to be great.

And Chami is my new favorite little furry friend.

Oh, and my recommended play order: Tsugumi, Sora, You, Sara, and of course Coco.

That happens to be the order I played them in (by preference I suppose ^^), agree that it probably gives the best value.

Ooh. Thanks for the reccomendations, mates. I was finnally able to download Narcissu (relax, it ain't warez... I think) and read it a bit, 'bout 20 mins or so. Seems kinda interesting so far but nothing that makes me say "damn!, that story touched me in more parts than one and it wasn't rape!"

I still am not able to locate this Ever 17 that everyone seems to love (although I haven't looked THAT much either... some probs...). Any other recommendations?

It is a shame that Hirameki Int. is gone :( I got my copy of Ever17 off ebay for $20 though, worth the money but too bad that the money doesn't go to the creators and such.

I think their assets were bought up by some other company. They're releasing sequels and stuff.
