Is that really true? My brother came home with it for only $25AUD a few weeks ago, and he told me th same thing. It's actually quite common here in Aus, or around where I live at least.
I've seen used PSX copies being sold for 500$ and more at some places. Considdering that the discs are indeed fragile and the slightest scratch can ruin them, it'd be a pretty big gamble to buy an unsealed copy of the game for that much. Of course sealed copies are being sold for even more insane prices...
heh, i re-bought a sealed copy of FFVIII like 6 months ago for like 30 bucks (a bit less perhaps, cant remember exactly)
ps one games are rather still cheap over here, dunno why...[/quote]
Because Square reprinted a bunch of greatest hit versions for FF8, and FF8 is not as popular as it's predecessors.
But yes....Valkyrie Profile 1 is notorious for being 100 or so USDs on eBay and such. Friend got a used copy for 130 dollars. You COULD get the Remake for PSP, same game with pretty CG movie extras. Yes, in the United States jRPGs are also notorious for getting extremely expensive over time when word gets out how great they were what not. Disgaea was like 100 bucks till Atlus reprinted some. Atlus titles all become rare and sought after for some goddamn reason, while in Europe if they even manage to reach there it's not so pricy and you could go to a rental store and find a used copy cheap. Recently on eBay a sealed copy of Chrono Trigger for the SNES sold for 1,2000 USDs on eBay...and before that I saw a sealed copy of FF3(FF6) for SNES sold for 600 dollars...if only my copies were still sealed. Well that's the U.S for ya.
