Well... the setting and overall story make CF2 fairly interesting and I found the main character likeable, but it has some flaws as well, combat is pretty repetitive (luckily you can skip previously fought battles when replaying) and some characters are quite archetypical. Depends on your budget imo, it's not something you can't live without but if you can afford to get it I'd say its well above average (whatever that is) and worth playing at least twice, if not for all characters (the overall story imo is much better than most of the individual gettable characters' part in it).

Average plot, sub-par H, predictable jokes, repititive battle system.

Yeah, it's nothing special.

I'd recommend it if you:
1) Haven't played jRPGs before
2) Enjoy typical jRPGs
3) Haven't played too many light-hearted VNs (i.e. the jokes will seem fresh)

The Blaze of Destiny games have been better than CF2 in the story and gameplay department (at least so far for me), but of course they're not in English. Yet.

CF2 was a reasonably enjoyable afternoon's entertainment, but it's way too easy to blow through without even trying. Also, the storyline is pretty generic "light country vs. dark country o but the light country isn't all bunnies and flowers and the dark country isn't all goblins and tentacle porn" stuff. Plus the last part of the game sounds like the writer just said "aw fuck it, it's an hour to my deadline and people are just here for the porn anyway, so I'll just rush it to a conclusion, never mind the fact that the conclusion doesn't actually conclude much of anything in a satisfying way."

Now that I think of it, I wasn't all that fond of it after all. I've found Blaze of Destiny 1 to be much more engaging, and that's after it was filtered through ATLAS.
