Best anime this year was Luc... *gets raped*

Seriously though, Seirei no Moribito wins by leaps and bounds as far as I'm concerned. Gorgeous artwork, fluid animation (and that 26 episodes long), music, voice acting, story, everything's just perfect. It also has a main male lead that doesn't cry as soon as he gets looked at.
It's actually the first anime in quite some time that made me cry.

Can't wait to get my hands on the DVDs.

the live action was great. anime, good, but not best for this year.
i'd give it points to the manga instead.

sola for me. not much and I can tell that there are better ones out there but for some reason I just find this series just fine.
Kaiji, (zawa zawa..)
Hayate or Zetsubou, m'yeah but both series had some flaws as the series progressed (i.e. jokes getting lame, uninteresting)

FREEDOM definitely wins all in my book. The first episode was released late 2006 so I'm not sure if that counts, but episode 5 was released in october so I'd say this is pretty much a 2007 anime.

Nanoha (up to A's)

It's got everything a fan wants.

Girls, chains, whips, transformations, (indirect) bondage, N3kkid, (sort of) yuri romance, hot springs, etc.

Best of all, they're underaged.

EDIT: mmm, least i think it was 07'

I really like Honey and Clover, but I think that was 2006.

Code Geass was pretty darn good, in my opinion.

The first Nanoha was '04... A's was '05... StrikerS was this year though :P

Dare I say Gurren-Lagann for best '07?

Nodame was good, I actually did like Lucky Star, I still need to finish Seirei no Moribito though... dammit, I'd forgotten about it. I stopped watching Hayate at episode 21 or 22, it got boring to me. I need to finish up Zetsubou Sensei also :\

Geass was pretty good, but I don't think it was the best.

I seriously don't get the Gurren hype.
I've seen the series myself and liked it, but it's nowhere near as awesome as everyone makes it out to be. It was waaaaaaaay over the top, in a bad way this time.

Then again, it might just be too manly for me >.>

I just think that Gurren-Lagann was a very well put together and developed show with good art, very well developed characters, and (while some disagree) an epic story. It was very over-the-top at times(especially the battle at the end) but it carried it in such a way that really worked for me and kept it enjoyable. I think it was a great show. Some people may not like it, or may like it but don't think it was "great", but I can understand why that is. It's one of those shows that I think you can't rely on others' opinions of, you've just got to watch it and decide for yourself.
