Realta Nua

Hi!

Is it somehow possible for Mirror-Moon to develop a version of the English translation that would work with Realta Nua on the PS2?

For example, could the file be saved to a PS2 memory card, or a USB key or Memory Stick(on models which use the latter), and accessed when the game is running?

Or on PS2s and PS3s using hard drives, could the data be stored there?

Or is the coding for RN just too different, or difficult, to allow for suc ha conversion?

Sorry if this has been asked before...

EDIT: The site won't let me enter in the fada on the e properly. Sigh.

I doubt they can do it. They have to extract things like the text, scripts, codings and what not and then try to put it back in.

If I'm correct, you can't really mod console games. If I'm correct that is.

Well, patches, extras and updates of games have been released online for Xbox titles via Xbox Live - the game draws from the additional material from the hard drive while you play.

And that's usually for more than just text files, too.

But then, those addons are generally released by the original studio...

Exactly. When I mean mods, I mean mods created by just ordinary 1337 hackers. =p

Fair enough.

As an aside, has anyone here tried RN on a PS3?

We have been looking into the format of RN, but it is currently on a relatively low priority. I may ask ArchDemon to look into it more closely once I start work on F/sn non-ero, as it may be worth the trouble to use RN format for that. Nothing has been decided yet, though. Translating a PS2 game is not impossible, but usually it is more difficult than PC games.

i thought this might be the place to ask this but

is the general routes (fate/UBW/HF) the same for f/sn and realta nua the same word for word (minus the ero stuff of course)? if not could someone outline the differences please, and if a post has already been made about this could someone link me to it :P

well, as far as I know, they're just the same in general, minus the ero scene, plus saber extra ending ( Last Episode ).

whether it's word to word, I do not know.

but at least,

Yes, you can. For example, there are patches for Winning Eleven which modify the teams' uniforms and the players' names (Konami doesn't have the rights to use the original/real ones); it can also modify the stadiums, etc. The patches are also used to translate the game, since it is in Japanese. I've even seen patches that add the language choices (for the narrators) from the International version.

Anyway, rather than creating a patch for the PS2 game, wouldn't it be easier (it would involve more work from the team, though) to extract the images from [Realta Nua] and add them, plus the new scenes, to the PC's version*? I've also checked the thread in which some member said he/she was capable of extracting the voice acting from [Realta Nua]. If that's true, you'd get something close to it; the only things missing would probably be [Realta Nua]'s OPs, and Last Episode.

*The ero-version would keep the ero-scenes, obviously.

it would be great if it can be done :)
but isn't it a go against the warez rule? I mean, even extractimg the voice arc is not legal, y'know...

yup, nasu himself said that the readers are free to interpret the story according to their own imagination.

The problem with porting RN stuff to the PC version is indeed warez-related. We cannot bundle binary content from RN with our patch, so we would need to find/create tools that can extract the required files automatically, and insert them into the PC build. We're not currently planning on creating an RN patch for F/sn PC, we'll focus on UBW and HF first. But perhaps, some day.

I'll just have to keep the faith then, that one day I might be able to play RN. . . I bought the soundtrack and the premium fan DVD (though I had to convert one of my drives to region 2 to use it), which are both pretty awesome to say the very least. The new OPs are so freaking cool. . . Yes, one of these days.
