Interesting, but it'd be more surprising if Nasu had just conjured the locales from his mind when they didn't actually exist anywhere.

Edit: Wow, Rin's house is kinda tacky IRL.

I think using existing locations in VN is pretty common, I have seen a similar comparison between locations in Clannad and their real-life counterparts. Also, aren't the background in Tsukihime just edited photos? It is not surprising that it continued the practice in Fate, but put in a bit more effort (redrawn them).
Are we Beast's Lair Lite? Are we?!

Yes, the actual locations were used and then edited for the game.
Life is but a River.
A continuous flow, relentless till it reaches its destination.
Rocks, rapids, falls hinder not the flow of the strong.
It has its ups,and its downs.
And in the end,peacefully.......
It dissipates into to vast Ocean.

yea when I was in japan this spring I actually made a pilgrimage to Kobe to find all the spots XD. I can post some links to the pics I took there if you guys want. It was really cool seeing all those places irl, and getting some of the shots was pretty hilarious (the church courtyard is in a hotel and there were two weddings happening there at the time lol). Also for the road leading up to the church I had to stand in the middle of a very busy street. I got so many really funny looks from people walking by lol.

Sure, go ahead and post them!

It's not like there's any harm in doing so; you don't live there, so we can't stalk you. :P
