About the translation...

Unread postby zomgwtfbbqitsrei » June 14th, 2009, 2:21 pm

First of all, great work.

But something kinda bothers me.

Sometimes the translation seems off. For example choice 3 on day 8 in UBW leads to a translation of Shirou talking about aperetifs, alcohol and Saber's age when in Japanese he actually talks about cheese and dessert, but says his wallet won't allow it.

Just before that, when Shinji seeks shelter at the church, the translation reads something about him saying Rider was useless as servant, but not as woman.
He never says this in Japanese.

I'm wondering if that's a liberal translation or a direct translation of the original game and the voices, coming from the "family friendly" Realta Nua are just different than the original text.
(I already know the H scenes have no voices because they were taken out in Realta Nua).

We didn't change the text translation to match the Japanese voices, so some inconsistencies are bound to occur. It's basically a 'best effort' match-up.

Were there differences between the original and the voiced version?

RN really toned things down, so the voices which come from it are equally censored.

lol censorship sucks. Pity too, it usually takes good stuff and rapes it to an irrecognizable state.

Actually if you go by comapiring F/SN with F/RN they had to tone down certain elements due to the fact that it was a port from the PC to the PS2. Hence why it was censored, but still I hear they did a pretty good job with it, but people kind of make fun of the secenes that replaced the ero scenes thatwere in F/SN.

Rewriting the dialogues to fit younger people is alright, but stuff like what the American companies did to various anime and manga is just bad. For example the hell>HFIL or whatever they did with it in DBZ.
