Wich classes would you prepare for the Holy Grail War?

Unread postby matthewfarenheit » August 3rd, 2008, 4:00 pm

Let's suppose this: you're the Holy Grail, the whole system is in your hands. You have to create 7 vessels in order to prepare for the forthcoming summoning of 7 servants into Fuyuki's Holy Grail War. All these old "Saber", "Archer", "Lancer", "Caster", Rider" and "Berserker" "er" finished names start to bother you and Assassin just stole your wallet so you won't be resurrecting him anymore. Then, you decide you'll make new classes for this War. Now, what would these classes be? And please, don't just mention them, but also tell us what kind of heroic spirit will fit these classes (either with a description or an actual hero). Also, you can use other "er" finished names like that, just keep in mind that they have to be new

And please, we all know that DMC Dante's styles sound great, but there's no place for a Gunslinger servant in Fuyuki's war, so avoid it, and try to be original

If this idea was already used, please just let me know, it's just that there are a lot of threads on "what servant/reality marble/class you'll be/like to have?" and so I'd like to see what kind of ideas you can have on this matter (plus, my otherthread just became a flame war :P )

Servant Destroyer. He don't have any desire of winning Heaven's Feel his motive is unknown. Only sorcerers can summon him. He may be being from another planet.

Well, its pretty hard to think about some classes that have nothing to do with the 7 actual ones but... let's try.

Tactician: Has no great strenght, but the servant is a really brilliant tactician of his era. Won't fight openly, but will make the war advance in a way he can take advantage from. Don't have an example in mind.

MArtial artist: well, someone who fights disarmed. Bruce lee would do.

Guardian: Defensive servant who only wishes to protect his master.

Beast: Any mitollogic beast would serve, hard to control, and dangerous to treat, but powerfull. Cerberus for example.

mm Other ideas, but most of them would count as the actual ones.

I find the whole deck of slightly different offensive classes a bit dull so here's a slightly different one:

Servant Shield.
Wields a light or no weapon, and a shield-like item. An unyielding defender of his or her master, Shield is an ideal support class for an offense-type master, but also excels in hand-to-hand combat and should not be underestimated in a brawl. Actual abilities vary depending on hero.
Defense and Endurance at least A, magical energy F.
No special magic resistance (although the heroic spirit may have some nevertheless), but his defensive gear can block all direct magical attacks.

Indestructible Shield: As an equipment-type Noble Phantasm user, Shield-bearer has no purely magical skills, but conversely he can treat all noble phantasms as conventional attacks, completely ignoring their magical effect if he manages to block them. This ability is more useful against powerful magical weapons such as Excalibur or Gae Bolg (which would be treated as normal swings/thrusts), less useful against attacks such as Tsubame Gaeshi which is basically a very skillful conventional attack to start with. Shield can be temporarily lent to another person and the effect remains.

Example heroic spirit: Captain America (yeah it was pretty hard to come up with an example of a defender-type of hero from the mythology, but it's not like they need to come from reality/ancient history :D).
Can use his indestructible shield as a highly powerful boomerange in close or mid-range combat; shield automatically returns to hand after throw.

There was a servant of the Shield, in Proto-Fate. From Fuyuki:

"A Servant with a shield that ended up killing her Master and was one of the "abandoned puppy" sort of heroines. Just like Gil, she stuck around since the last war. Would have been one of Saber's rivals"

I believe that a class like "Monster" can suit. There can be eirei that were not human like Sun Wukong or Quiron.

Paladin - A holy warrior who is not only protected and granted power by the God(s) but fights for his God(s) cause. These warriors themselves may not be overly skilled, however, their divine powers can more than make up for what they lack.
-Example: Jeanne d'Arc
--Jeanne herself was a paltry warrior and arguably not a great tactician. Yet she is renowned as 'France's Greatest Hero'. Claims to have been guided and protected by God.
-Examples: Crusaders, Templars, etc.
*A lot of overlap with the Saber class, when it comes to finding historical examples. However, the difference is a Paladin could also be a spell caster, a fighter, or a tactician. Really the only thing linking them is the "Holy Champion" bit.
++ Divine Aura: Measures the amount of granted power. Boosts stats depending on rank and the individual hero.

Thief - Those who were made famous by a great act of thievery. May use ranged or melee weapons(or a mix of the two).
-Example: Robin Hood
--Robin Hood is probably best known for his 'steel from the rich and give to the poor' rhetoric.
*This would draw from various classes.
+Abilities:
++ Stealth: Allows one to sneak about unnoticed(basically a presence concealment for this class).
++ Pilfer: Measures ones ability to snatch an item(basically a S rank pilfer would be someone capable of stealing just about anything even in battle, hmm..... stealing Saber's clothes could be fun . Though it would likely get my poor Servant K.O.'ed pretty fast).

Of course if we are really uncreative we could just go through some D&D handbooks.

Hmm... Lemme think 'ere...

Murderer: Less-so 'heroic' in the traditional sense than others. Someone who would fight ruthlessly, with zero care for the rules. (Only fighting at night, etc, etc.) Would probably blend in with society, if needed. Befriend another Master, then proceed to separate their neck from their body. ^_^ ...Man I'm sadistic before class... (Someone like Jack the Ripper would be /perfect/ 'ere.)

Edit: Yes, Shun, it would be fun.

Servant Moon-
Those who are only regarded in the world of Type-moon visual novels/doujin works are allowed to be summoned. Arcueid for instance may be summoned as a servant

ability - Rank up on ordinary stats by one/half due to servant physical enhancements(usually adds a + to something. If a skill for instance is A, it would be A+. If it was A+ it would be A++ or EX-)

Ability - When in battle, your servant has the 1/10 chance to gain the help of Mahou Shoujo Phantasm Moon. This will give the servant in question a stat buff of +1 to rankings, and have the opposing servant suffer a -1 drop in defensive values. Phantasm Moon will not fight, as she only fights for justice, and rarely cares about servants and the such. She will possibly fly by and give her blessings though

Ability - Blood instinct. Those summoned from a Tsukihime universe will also gain a small boost to either their independent action, minds eye, or recovering traits based under the sub-classes of Vampire, Demon, and Assassin

Ability - Infinite Repetition Works - All typemoon servants from the Tsukihime Universe gain the ability to reset their day from start as long as they do not gain memories of the transpired events of the said day. This ability is commonly random, and has little correlation to servant skill. The luck modifier adds to the random chance bar of it happening during a death

Um, I doubt Arc is qualified as a servant. Of course I don't mean stat-wise not qualified. The grail summons heroic spirits from the throne of heroes. These heroes must be the crystaliztion of human belief and imagination, the representation of human struggle and endeavor towards perfection. Arc is a copy of Crimson Moon made by Gaia, and doesn't have much to do with humans. PLUS, OUR ARC IS NOT DEAD YET.

@deadshadows,
Nasu stated that gods cannot be summoned. Plus, think about the impact on readers. If Zeus and Jesus battle, who wins? See... Nasu is very smart, he does not wish to tread that territory and bring censure to himself.

shinso is also an embodiment of humanity's wish, you know... it's just that none other than eirei (heroic spirits) can be summoned as servants. it's as simple as that. (regarding the definition of "heroic spirits", no "evil aligned heroic spirits" can be summoned. at least, not until hf 3 when avenger came.)

I don't know if he had foreseen that, or if it's some kind of coincidence...

No no, if I remember right, creating Arc is not the wish of humanity, but the wish of Gaia. Gaia created beings in Crimson Moon's image to help protect itself from humanity. Remember the whole Gaia asking for the help of the Types thing? (Type Mercury and Type Moon answering the call of Gaia)

Quoting Fuyuki
"...extensions of nature that are on a magnitude large enough to be perceived by human beings". So, they are no way related to humans, pure creations of Gaia.
