you can indeed just watch one ep of the anime :3

Hisui is a japanese name, so I guess you can't even discuss the pronouncation, arcueid is more difficult, Japanese tend to fuck up foreign speeches, so even the anime might not show the intended pronouncation :3 Although I think its on the target with this.

Yeah, definitely glad I saw the anime first... :7

The Japanese pronunciation of Hisui should be fine. I often refer to her in additional ways, such as ^.^ and 'yes, please' :D

As for Arcueid... My friends and I usually cheat and go with 'Arc'.

Right.. that must hae been Lunar Legend Pokemon that I saw.. or you are wrong.

I mainly refer Arcueid as Arc, other wise I pronounce it "Arukueid". Hisui is just.. Hisui... and cute..

Sounds Swedish enough, I wonder why I never tried to pronounce it like that.

If I recall it right, the pronounce is something like Arucue-ido in the winrar anime.

I think he's referring to the pure crapiness that is the Tsukihime anime.

Anyways, all the names are pronounced how they're spelled. Well, maybe except Nryqye or however they spelled that (which is pronounced Nero). Arcueid is AR-KU-AID. Hisui is HEE-SU-EE. Except since her name is Japanese, you have to say it fast like it's all together.

I always found it funny how they could reach into that ungodly jumble of mismatched consonants and produce "Nero" as the spoken equivalent... Is there any particular reason why that's so, or is it just something completely random that evolved out of a joke?

Also, it's likely that we'll never get a reliable pronunciation of anything but Japanese names in Japanese (because of their strange way of pronouncing English words), so Arcueid is more or less open to interpretation.
"They marched onwards, fire against earth, bodies piling ever higher for the whims of rival demons, content in their game. The masses never questioned their intent nor knew their masters, serving Hell more than Heaven in their madness. For madness went unchallenged here, and the great machine of many faces, skins, and thoughts continued to turn in silence."

it is supposed to be Alucard, people just keep insisting on Arucard because that is how it sounds more when they pronounce it in the Hellsing anime

kinda like people who insist calling Light from Death Note "Raito"

When I watched the anime about a year ago I thought it was massive win. But yeah, that kinda changed after the game. But still, it's not that bad.
I should rewatch it again.
